My life as an artist started in the early 90’s with the recycling of interior textile samples that were headed for landfill. I couldn’t allow these exquisite materials to be buried. My mission was to recycle them into some form of visual art, and so began my life as an artist.

Initial works were miniature collage, intricately embellished with metallic threads and beads. These were sold through specialty shops and galleries. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response from buyers and galleries, I explored larger works on watercolour paper and canvas.

After years of collecting contemporary interior and fashion textiles I discovered the beauty of antique and vintage handstitched textiles from India, Japan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. I imagine the hands that created them and the women and places they've adorned. If only these textiles could tell their story!

Through years of experimentation, my techniques, artistic style and creations evolved significantly.  My collection of collage wall art, decorative vessels and fashion jewellery incorporate textiles, photographs, Japanese papers, metallic and coloured threads, vintage and contemporary beads, jewels, timber veneers and found treasures. The threads and embellishments are applied with dental instruments using the same acid free adhesive I use to adhere the textiles and papers.

Since 1999 I have had the pleasure of exhibiting my collage works in many group and solo shows as well as local artisan markets.
